Training and development

Most field errors can be prevented before the interview starts. With hands-on training we teach your field teams to ask questions correctly, protect quotas and approach participants the right way.

Why does training come before fieldwork?

Most errors made in the field can be prevented before the interview starts.

Leading questions, incomplete answers or forced quotas usually come from gaps in knowledge. Good training solves these errors before they reach the field.

We tailor our training to the participant group and the project’s method and target audience.

How a training programme runs

  1. Needs
  2. Programme
  3. Instruction
  4. Role play
  5. Field readiness

Topics

What do we work on?

Each programme is built from these topics as needed; instruction is reinforced with practice.

Survey and interview techniques

Reading questions as written, asking without leading, recording answers completely and handling respondents who decline correctly.

We support instruction with role plays and pilot interviews.

Research ethics is part of every training.

Respondents’ trust is a precondition for reliable data. That’s why ethics is a topic of its own in every programme.

Sampling and quota awareness

Selecting the right respondent and protecting the quota; among the most common errors in the field.

Introduction to fieldwork

The purpose and types of fieldwork and its place in the research process.
